Councillor Sue Fenton

Sue Fenton was elected Councillor for Earlswood & Whitebushes in May 2019.

Sue lives in Redhill and is a freelance writer and editor.

She dislikes the greed and self-interest that is evident in national government, where political decisions are increasingly made for the benefit of wealthy individuals and corporations at the expense of the general public and the environment.

Sue believes in the Greens’ fair and compassionate form of politics, under which ordinary people and smaller businesses can flourish.

Local issues that concern Sue include the environmental threat from oil drilling, the litter problem and the lack of affordable housing. Nationally, she is worried about the creeping privatisation of the NHS, the cuts to benefits for vulnerable people, and the atmosphere of hostility to ‘foreigners’ brought about by Brexit, which has led to labour shortages in the NHS, care homes, farms and other workplaces.

In her spare time, Sue plays recorder in a folk band and attends and organises open mic nights. She is also a keen amateur genealogist and enjoys walking in the beautiful Surrey countryside.
