Improving walking, cycling and bus facilities – have your say

Surrey County Council wants residents’ views on its proposals to improve walking, cycling and bus facilities between Redhill, Reigate, Woodhatch and along the A23 towards Horley and Gatwick.

The aim is to make it easier for people to travel between Redhill, Earlswood, East Surrey Hospital, Whitebushes, Salfords, the new housing developments in Horley and Gatwick Airport by bus, bike or on foot.

The Council proposes to extend the cycle and bus corridors that exist in central Redhill into the surrounding area.

At the moment this area has very few cycle paths or lanes. Those that exist are poor quality and cyclists have to negotiate busy, fast roads. This means that few people can cycle to work.

And while bus services are frequent along the A23, the A2044 and the A217, many bus stops are poor quality and hard to get to and congestion means bus journey times can be unreliable.

The Council is inviting residents to look at the proposals and fill in a questionnaire with your views.

You can find full details and have your say on this webpage

The proposals will also be on display at an exhibition at The Three Arches Restaurant, East Surrey Hospital, at the following times:

  • Thursday 9 July (11am–7pm)
  • Saturday 11 July  (11am–4pm).

The consultation closes on Friday 31 July.
