Introducing our candidates for the County Council election

On 2 May, you can vote Green in elections for Surrey County Council.

The Green Party is standing candidates in the two divisions in Redhill.

Boundaries have changed – as the population of Redhill has grown so much. Redhill residents used to be represented by one County Councillor (the current incumbent is Lynne Hack, Conservative). Now there are two County seats. ‘Redhill East’ now includes parts of Earlswood while ‘Redhill West’ includes parts of Reigate and Meadvale. Make sure you check where your polling station is, as for some people this will change.

Hard-working candidates

Jonathan Essex and Sarah Finch are standing for the East and West divisions respectively.

Both are elected Borough Councillors, and now want to serve you on the County Council as well.

Jonathan says, “We work hard to get things done on the Borough Council. But many important issues – including roads and transport, social care, schools and waste disposal – are overseen by the County rather than Reigate & Banstead.

“We need Green Councillors elected to Surrey to bring the County Council alive to the needs of its residents.”

Sarah says, “We have shown over the past three years that Greens can be an effective opposition in Redhill.  We now need an effective opposition in the County too.

“Even with a large Conservative majority, we can make them work harder.”
