On 31 August, the Planning Committee approved plans to build a giant Sainsbury’s superstore in Redhill. This will be on the same site as the current Sainsbury’s – and involves knocking down the adjacent Lombard offices.
I voted to DEFER the decision, so that a full assessment could be made of the likely impacts on the town centre and particularly on other shops. But the Committee voted to approve the application, so the store will now be built.
